Note: Before running any troubleshooting steps, make sure you have backed up your important files and data.

Step 1: Run the Compatibility Troubleshooter

  • Click on the Start button (usually found at the bottom left corner of the screen).

  • Type “Control Panel” in the search bar.

  • Select “Control Panel”.

  • Click on “System and Security”.

Step 2: Open the System Configuration troubleshooter

  • In the Control Panel, click on “Troubleshoot”.

  • Click on “All problems” at the bottom left corner.

Error 0x80070005: Unable to Install or Update Software

  • Solution: Restart your computer.

  • Solution: Run Memory Stress Test in the Command Prompt.

  • Open an elevated Command Prompt as Administrator.

  • Type memtest86.exe and press Enter.

  • Follow the prompts to run the memory test.

Error 0x80070005: Unable to Install Software on a Windows 10 Machine with a 64-bit Operating System

  • Solution: Update your operating system to a 32-bit version of Windows 10 (if you’re using a 64-bit machine).

  • Description: This error occurs when the software requires a 32-bit version of the operating system, but it’s installed on a 64-bit machine. Try updating your operating system and reinstalling the software.
